Animal Encounters

Knysna and it`s surrounding areas has a wealth of animal encounters that will leave a lifetime of memories. Choose from the following options.....

  • Walk with Cheetahs

Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre walks their cheetahs twice a day through large tracts of fynbos and indigenous forest. If you would like to absorb the true beauty of these endangered cats and at the same time, enjoy some beautiful scenery and natural cape vegetation, a cheetah walk at Tenikwa is a definite must. Tenikwa is a registered NPO wildlife rehabilitation centre who accepts any injured or abandoned wild animal from the Garden Route.  They rely on public support and eco-tourism to fund the costs of rehabilitation and release.  Prior booking is essential for the Cheetah Walk, but during the day, Tenikwa offers 1 hour guided tours to see a variety of indigenous African Wild Cats from caracal, cheetah and leopard, and other endangered South African birds and animals.  Tours depart every half an hour from 9am daily.  Tel 044-5348170.  www.tenikwa.co.za
